A Project of Table & Chairs in Seattle, WA

Racer Session #391 | Adam Briggs | September 10, 2017

Greetings, Racers!

This Sunday at 8pm, we will welcome composer Adam Briggs to the Racer stage. Originally from California, Adam moved to the Seattle area three years ago and has since been pursuing a degree in composition and drum performance at Cornish. Though Adam has performed at Racer before, this will be his first time presenting works for us, and will be joined by cellist Ebony Miranda and saxophonist Michael Conklin. A lovely human through and through, we're very excited to host Adam this weekend.

You can find a short blog written by Adam below, so read on and then join us at Cafe Racer, this Sunday at 8pm.

"Ever since I came to Seattle I've had a tempestuous relationship with playing and especially improvising music. So much of spontaneous performance is simply filling space and even more is jamming, something Ive been running from since I left the dmt-crusted fedoras of Berkeley, CA.  This fleeing led me to see every decision as a prison and to be dogmatic in my commitments.  Music is work, but with humbling direction I've come to see every decision as an offering.

This night, I hope we can explore honestly dangerous music. Instead of letting each new idea die before it matures, touch your power and stew in its faint directions. Expose a piece of your heart and let it grow. It's all for love."
