Table & Chairs

A Project of Table & Chairs in Seattle, WA

Racer Session #572 | Evan Smith | Sunday December 3, 2023

Audio Only:

A member of the Seattle music community since 2011, Evan has appeared in diverse performance contexts over the last decade. With a background in contemporary classical saxophone and a bent toward free improvisation, he enjoys performing in wide-ranging musical landscapes. While most often seen with Seattle pop band, The Dip, Evan performs in varied styles on both saxophone and clarinet. He is an obsessive baseball fan, an avid runner, and will show you a picture of his tabby-cat, Mona, at even the slightest hint of an opportunity.

“For this performance, I started writing what I imagined would be ensemble music several months ago. However, as time passed, I felt a strong pull to simply present a solo set of music for this offering. This will be the first extended solo performance of my career; and, I simply wanted to share my musical language and experience with you all. I’m deeply grateful that these sessions have continued and can think of no better way to celebrate the space at 1412 than presenting my musical language and sound plainly and openly – to play what I would when nobody is listening, and to express the sounds that propel me to keep picking up my instrument.”
