Table & Chairs and JazzED Collaboration: 12/21

We are pleased to announce our first collaboration with JazzED, one of Seattle’s formidable jazz education programs. We have teamed up for the first event in an ongoing series entitled CONTINUUM: A Celebration of Music Education and Seattle’s Improvised Music Community.

The event, co-hosted by Jacob Zimmerman (Table & Chairs, Racer Sessions) and Aaron Walker-Loud (Seattle JazzEd, Arts Corps, Big World Breaks), will feature musical performances by Table & Chairs artists Chemical Clock and Burn List, as well as a Seattle JazzED-sponsored group led by Ariel Loud. Between performances there will be a curated series of jam sessions— a la Table & Chairs’ famed Racer Sessions — and all are welcomed to bring their instruments along if they wish to participate.

CONTINUUM will take place on December 21st from 7:00 to 10:00 PM at the Royal Room, located at 5000 Rainier Ave S, Seattle, WA. There is no cover charge and all ages are welcome. Current and former Seattle-area jazz students and educators are encouraged to attend and play.

Seattle JazzED serves 150 students, from 60 dierent schools, forming 6 ensembles and multiple workshops and summer programs. JazzED ensembles are directed by some of Seattle’s most distinguished music educators, including Robert Knatt, Clarence Acox, and Wayne Horvitz

ON TABLE & CHAIRS (In case you need a refresher course in T&C.)

Table & Chairs is a record label that represents and brings together artists and listeners who are actively contributing to a forward thinking community that is wholly devoted to the advancement of New Music. Table & Chairs members began Racer Sessions, a curated weekly composition and improvisation series. Racer Sessions was instituted with the aim of providing for artists and listeners of all ages and musical backgrounds the opportunity to interact with and inspire each other in a setting that might otherwise only exist in classrooms.

We hope to see you all out at The Royal Room on December 21st. It’s going to be a blast!
