Hello Racer Community,
In continued solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and the Seattle-King County BLM Chapter (@blmskc), we encourage you to participate in a day of action today, June 12th. There is a call for a statewide general strike - instead of going into work or working from home, taking the day to march, familiarize yourself with your elected officials, and make your voice heard. If you live in Seattle, there is a Silent March that will gather at Judkins park at 1pm, and depart at 2pm for Jefferson Park (1.8 miles). There are several events happening across the state, and you can find the one closest to you at the link in our bio. Additionally, we will continue to pause the Zoom Sessions, in an effort to keep the focus on current events. We are actively discussing ways in which the Racer Sessions / Table & Chairs can continue to support this momentum through our work, action, and community of music, so please stay tuned and until then, stay safe.
With Love,
The T&C Organizers

Dear Racer Sessions community,
We, along with the FreeSessions, have decided to postpone our collaborative session that was scheduled for tomorrow, June 7. Instead, we urge you to support this critical moment by learning, listening, and taking action (see our bio for a link to a document with info about important actions you can take NOW, including a protest TONIGHT at Magnuson Park). We are dedicated to this movement and are working on ways we can continue to contribute, show up for Black lives, and demand justice for the killings of George Floyd, Breona Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless others.
Thank you, and please remember to take care of yourselves and each other! ๐ Racer Sessions / Table & Chairs

We as an organization stand in solidarity with the black community locally and nationally, and support the ongoing outcry against police brutality within non-white communities. With an acute awareness that our audience and community are majority not black, we recognize the responsibility we have to continue supporting the black community as proactive allies, and help our audience do the same. Swipe through for mental health resources for black people right now (put together by Jesse Sparks), more information on Black Lives Matter - King County’s newly-established bail fund (link in bio), and a collection of books on race, racism and anti-racist work to read (illustration by Jane amount).

Friends! It’s #givingtuesday, and we’re participating in @givebigwa! Racer Sessions set our goal to raise $518, a dollar for every session we’ve produced since 2010. Can you help us get there? Donations help us bring historic improvisers to the stage, fund bands as they come through on tour, and supply the tools to raise additional funds for our community. If you can, today is the day to pay it forward and keep this music and this mission alive in Seattle! ♥๏ธ Link in the bio!

Zoom Session tomorrow, Sunday 3/29, 4-6pm! Link to FB event in bio - check it out for more info. DM us if you’re interested in playing!

RACER IS ON! DIGITALLY! We just posted tonight’s “opening set” on our website and invite you to take a listen, then send us your improvisation in response! You can take a video or make an audio recording! You can tag us in a post or a story, or email us the file at racersessions@gmail.com! We invite all our friends near and far to participate and can’t wait to hear you. Link in the bio to get the videos and all the info. ♥๏ธ

Link to the @cafe_racer_seattle Indiegogo campaign in our bio! They need the financial support of the community to get them through this tough time following the owner Jeff’s medical emergency last fall (thankfully, he’s fine now). Please donate if you can and spread the word! ๐
