Greetings, Racers!

This Sunday, we are pleased to present CHA, a fairly-new ensemble with a brand new name. CHA consists of three musicians:

Heather Bentley is a violist/improviser/composer with classical roots and questing new music tendrils. She’s co-artistic director of Kin of the Moon, a non-profit Sound Factory, and is on the faculty of Cornish College of the Arts.

Amelia Love Clearheart is a multi-genre artist, composing and improvising poetry, movement and sound. Her sonic shares range from spontaneous identifiable word-scapes to channeled medicine songs and statements thru 'root language'. Thru this unlimited language, vibrations are relayed, with the potential for shifting frequencies in the listener in favor of enhanced well being. 

Carol J Levin is an experimenting electric harpist, moving between collaborations in improvised music, jazz, swing and blues, with an occasional foray into contemporary composed works. To date, she does not play Celtic circles or weddings.

United, this femme trio works in tandem to create unique, improvisation-rooted sounds that balance between organic and mechanical origins. This will be a great session! CHA discovered their Trio Self after playing as random duos in various improvising combinations.

Somehow this ensemble goes beyond the sum of those to make deeply connected and imaginative creations, honoring their roots and sending out new shoots and branches.

CHA could as easily be ACH, AHC, HAC, HCA, CAH - we love permutations!

Each of us has found liberation and tenderness through the opportunities our electronics provide, coordinating and layering from sparse to dense, from silence to noise.

For the jam session following our set, we invite participants to limit/expand their playing in trios - to explore the deep listening and respect we have delighted in finding with each other in this format.
